UPDATE 24/03/17: Here’s when the 2017 Splendour In The Grass lineup is being announced.
ORIGINAL STORY: It’s that time of year when Splendour In The Grass rumours kick into overdrive, and we’ve just received the first big hint at which acts might feature on this year’s highly-anticipated lineup.
Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival made its first 2017 lineup announcement today, and since the festival takes place around the same time as Splendour (but doesn’t overlap with it), the two events tend to share a few acts in common.
This year’s Fuji Rock has now secured a bunch of potential Splendour acts who don’t currently have any other tour dates which would prevent them from performing at the Aussie festival, including Lorde, Björk, Major Lazer, The xx, Queens Of The Stone Age, Ásgeir and LCD Soundsystem (who last year allegedly cancelled a planned Australian tour before it was even announced).
There are a bunch of other potential Splendour acts too, like Catfish & The Bottlemen, Bonobo and Father John Misty, so check out the full Fuji Rock announcement below. Aphex Twin is also on the festival’s roster, but we’re not sure how well he’d suit the Splendour crowd — maybe an Aussie headline tour though, please?
A bunch of high-profile acts have already been ruled out of Splendour In The Grass 2017, including the likes of The Weeknd, Kasabian, Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Skepta.
Last year, Splendour In The Grass and Fuji Rock shared a number of acts, including Sigur Rós, Jake Bugg, James Blake, The Avalanches, The Internet and Leon Bridges.
Splendour 2017 will take place from Friday, 21st to Sunday, 23rd July, with Fuji Rock going down between Friday, 28th and Sunday, 30th July.
