Netflix have announced a new three-part documentary on rapper Kanye West will arrive on the platform sometime in 2022 during its global fan event TUDUM.
The project was initially teased back in May of this year, when it was revealed the streaming service had acquired a documentary about West that would include previously unseen archival footage from the last two decades of his life, focusing on his music and fashion career, the death of mother Donda West and his failed (and chaotic) presidential bid last year.
Now, Netflix have revealed the film’s title – Jeen-Yuhs – and shared a first look at the documentary: footage from 2002 that features both Yeezy and Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) rapping their College Dropout track ‘Two Words’ together.
“Filmed over two decades, jeen-yuhs is an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye’s experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist,” reads a synopsis of the film.
Jeen-Yuhs was created by filmmakers Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah (aka Coodie & Chike). The pair have previously collaborated with West on visuals for his 2003 debut single ‘Through the Wire’, teaming up again with him for a version of his ‘Jesus Walks’ video.
