Like many of us, Kesha is currently dealing with self-isolation in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic. How’s she going with it all? To answer your question, let me share the news that earlier today, she posted a new song about none other than beloved, Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, who you may recognise as star of such cinematic gems as Face/Off, National Treasure and Con Air.
Kesha posted the lo-fi clip to her Twitter timeline earlier today, with a caption that simply read, “mood.” The video for the one-minute long bop sees sees the ‘TiK ToK’ singer bedazzled in glitter, interspersed with footage from various classic films from across Cage’s filmography.
Kesha references several of Cage’s films throughout the track – with lyrics including “I’m on vacation, Leaving Las Vegas / Request my presence here’s the number call my agent,” and “Bitch, I’m a National Treasure / I make it rain in the desert.” There’s even a sample of Cage saying “Good call, baby doll,” taken from his role as Damon Macready (Big Daddy) in 2010’s Kick-Ass.
Anyway, it’s all very good, and a pleasant distraction in these dire times.
Watch the clip below. Kesha released fifth studio album High Road last month.
