After anticipation hit fever pitch over the last few days, the full lineup for Splendour In The Grass 2016 was finally announced this morning.
As expected, it’s a huge bill of local and international acts, but already there are questions being asked. Questions especially relevant to those planning to go for only one or two days. Questions like: ‘Which day has the best lineup?’
Day one will see Splendour off to a rollicking start, headlined by The Strokes‘ only Australian show, as well as local heroes Violent Soho and Hermitude. Additionally, day one will see The Avalanches‘ triumphant return to the stage, hopefully with that new album they’ve been working on for an impossibly long time.
The second day will be headlined by legendary British rockers The Cure and US post-hardcore outfit At The Drive-In. It’s set to be another killer day-long party, supplemented by Santigold, Matt Corby, Sticky Fingers, What So Not, Ballpark Music, Snakehips and Lido, just to name a few.
Day three will most likely see one of Flume or James Blake close the main stage, while Sigur Ros will play a one-off Australian show. They’ll be joined on Sunday by Boy and Bear, Jake Bugg and ARIA award-sweeping Courtney Barnett, as well as The Preatures and Tegan and Sara.
Some bands including The Wild Feathers, Melbourne Ska Orchestra and The Jungle Giants as yet have not had their performance days confirmed.
