The time has arrived. The night of nights for musicians – the Grammy Awards – is around the corner and the Recording Academy has finally revealed the extensive list of nominees for the big event.
Leading the nominations, unsurprisingly, is Lizzo who scored eight total nominations. She managed to earn a nomination in the four biggest categories of the night – Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Truth Hurts’, Album Of The Year for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) and Best New Artist.
For clarification, the Recording Academy have reportedly considered ‘Truth Hurts’ eligible because it rose to prominence this year, it was never submitted for consideration in the year of its release (2017) and it features on the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You.
Trailing behind her with six nominations apiece are Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X. Other big nominees include Vampire Weekend, Lana Del Rey, Bon Iver and Ariana Grande – all of which are nominated for Album Of The Year.
There’s some decent Aussie representation too. Both Flume and RÜFÜS DU SOL are nominated for Best Electronic Album for Hi This Is Flume and Solace respectively. RÜFÜS DU SOL also picked up a nomination for Best Dance Recording for ‘Underwater’.
Bring Me The Horizon and Tool also earned a few nominations. BMTH are nominated for Best Rock Album, while Tool are nominated for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Song for ‘7empest’ and ‘Fear Inoculum’ respectively.
