Have you ever wondered what it would sound like if Ray Romano, the star of Everybody Loves Raymond, released a selection of Ramones covers with a band called The Romanos? Neither have we, but it’s a thing now.
Evan Moore of New York band Red Temples has taken it upon himself to create an uber-weird but kind of entrancing set of parodies, mashing up the froggy (and pretty well impersonated) vocal tones of Ray Romano with the punk energy of The Ramones.
As AV Club reports, Moore came up with the idea as he was driving with his friend, Jon. When a Ramones track suddenly came onto the radio, Jon misread the band’s name as “The Romanos”, and things went from there.
Moore, in his best Ray Romano voice, has recorded covers of 53rd & 3rd, Teenage Lobotomy and Blitzkrieg Bop, and has even managed to put Romano’s head over the cover art for The Ramones’ first album.
Catch all three tracks below, and if you’re interested in downloading them as a piece of Ramones/Romano history, head over to The Romano’s Bandcamp page.
