Converse have gotten their hands (feet?) on the keys to twelve of the world’s most iconic recording studios, and they’re offering a dozen lucky bands from across the globe a chance to unlock them. The sneaker brand’s long-running Rubber Tracks competition is going global, and they’ve enlisted a very special guest to help them make the announcement.
Iggy Pop stars as the narrator of a new video, unveiled today, which outlines the eye-popping prizes on offer in the planetary artist search, including the chance to visit and record at one of 12 legendary studios, free of charge, with travel and select expenses covered by Converse.
Some of said studios include London’s Abbey Road, LA’s Sunset Sound, Berlin’s Hansa Tonstudio and Kingston, Jamaica’s Tuff Gong and, uh, Sydney’s Studios 301.
“As a brand so deeply rooted in the next generation of creative spirits, we’re eager to make history while inspiring creativity and self-expression among music communities worldwide,” said Converse’s global music marketing director, Jed Lewis.
Global registration begins today and runs through ’til Wednesday 24th June, with artists encouraged to submit a written or recorded bio as well as a list of their top three preferred studios. The lucky winners will be notified in July, before planning their visits with their studio’s producers for a September travel date.
“But how long will my game-changing recording session be?” we hear you ask, “Recording is a time consuming process and I want to ensure my artistic rights are protected.” Chill, friend, because Converse aren’t horsing around. You’ll get 7 recording sessions over the course of 10 days, and retain full rights to your recordings after each session.
