Here Are Your New Presenters For Triple J In 2020

Triple J has received a major presenter turnover in the past few weeks, with Ben Harvey, Liam Stapleton, Tom Tilley, Linda Marigliano and Gen Fricker all announcing their departure from the station. But now, the broadcaster has revealed their new presenter lineup for 2020 – with some old faces and some new ones, too.

As previously reported, Sally & Erica will be moving up to take over Ben & Liam’s breakfast spot. Now Marigliano has left morning duties, Lucy Smith – who is currently overseeing breakfast – will be permanently in the 9 – midday timeslot.

“I’m so unbelievably excited to spend each weekday flexing my music muscle and diving a little deeper into the tunes you’re hearing on triple j, plus the stories from the artists behind them,” she said in a statement.

“Mornings is a music lover’s haven, and it’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of two of my broadcast heroes Linda Marigliano and Zan Rowe.”

Comedian Dave Woodhead, who has worked hard on shows like Black Comedy and Get Krack!n, will be taking over Gen Fricker’s midday – 3pm slot. He’s a Darwin based, Torres Strait Islander who promises to spin Yothu Yindi’s ‘Treaty’ as much as he can – and we’re here for it.

“I’m looking forward to joining the triple j fam, spinning the best tunes and playing ‘Treaty’ by Yothu Yindi at every possible opportunity,” he said.

Avani Dias will be taking the reigns over at Hack, after working as a reporter for the show for a while now. She was also nominated for Young Journalist of the Year at the 2019 Walkleys.

“When I was a teenager, I’d write cheesy lines in my diary about how obsessed I was with triple j and wanting to be on the station,” she said in a statement.

“I’ve grown up with Hack. It’s guided me through life, taught me what I should know about the world, and in many ways made me the person I am today. So, you can imagine how proud and excited I am to be taking over the only show in Australia which always puts young people at the front and centre of every conversation.”

Beyond weekday programming, young gun Bryce Mills will be hopping on to cover weekend afternoons following Sally & Erica’s shift to weekday breakfast.

Of course, long standing weekday faves Veronica & Lewis and Bridget Hustwaite will remain doing their Drive and Good Nights slots respectively.

The new lineup is set to kick off in January next year. Check it out below.
