Fresh from releasing new album Mood Valiant, neo-soul faves Hiatus Kaiyote have announced they’ll be taking over the Forum in Melbourne late October for their own mini Halloween festival.
The band will both headline and curate A Very Hiatus Halloween, which is scheduled for Sunday, 31st October. The night will be hosted by the Duke of Dread, PBSFM’s DJ Richie 1250. Other acts who’ll perform on the night include dark synth outfit The Night Terrors, improv ensemble Uncomfortable Science and Alon Ilsar’s NightmAir.
The night will also include a special Spooky Drag Show, sideshow performances, and a Creepy Short Film fest that filmmakers are encouraged to submit their best work to. Punters are encouraged to get into the spooky spirit, with prizes awarded to the best dressed on the evening. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, 25th August.
Hiatus Kaiyote released Mood Valiant, their first album in six years, back in June. The follow-up to 2015’s Choose Your Weapon was preceded with singles like ‘Get Sun’ and ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’. Earlier this month, the band delivered a truly magical Tiny Desk Concert from home, playing five Mood Valiant cuts from their recording studio The Villa, transformed into a gloriously colourful wonderland for the occasion.
