Melbourne’s own Grammy nominated soul outfit Hiatus Kaiyote have finally unveiled their first new music since their stunning 2013 debut Tawk Tomahawk. The band have dropped their new EP By Fire and to celebrate they’re also taking it around the country as part of the Sonic Architects National Conference.
Produced by the band and recorded almost exclusively in their home studio in Melbourne, By Fire also allows Hiatus Kaiyote fans their first taste of what to expect on the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album Choose Your Weapon, due for release in March 2015. The EP features three brand new tracks, two of which most audiences around the world have never heard.
Hiatus Kaiyote have had a massive year. Apart from receiving props from the likes of Questlove, Q-Tip, Prince, Pharrell Williams, Erykah Badu and Flying Lotus, they’ve been nominated for a Grammy and have toured the world relentlessly.
They’re currently on the road as a part of the Sonic Architects National Conference, proudly supported by Music Feeds, where they’ll play alongside Remi, Kirkis, and Silent Jay & Jace XL. As a celebration of some of the country’s most forward-thinking musicians, at each show, over four hours, these artists will display what makes them some of the most exciting players in the Aussie music scene.
Punters can also expect plenty of exciting onstage collaborations and surprise guests. The Sonic Architects National Conference continues this Friday at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel. See all the remaining tour dates below.
Hiatus Kaiyote’s By Fire is out now.
