HIM, Nostalghia, The Defiled Sidewaves Announced

The Metro in Sydney and Melbourne’s 170 Russell (formerly Billboard) are preparing to become awash with Heartagrams as Soundwave organisers announce their latest triple Sidewaves bill, this time featuring Finnish rock gods HIM, with support from Nostalghia, and The Defiled.

HIM, a force to be reckoned with, have sold over 8 million records and are responsible for the best-selling single of any Finnish artist to date with their track Join Me In Death from their 1999 album, Razorblade Romance. They are also the first ever Finnish band to go gold in the US.

With a career that spans over two decades and eight albums of their trademark elegiac, synth-heavy hard rock, HIM now command an immense global following as elder statesmen of heavy music, sitting atop a pile of classic releases and countless successful tours. They’re not a bad to be missed.

Joining them will be the highly-anticipated post-apocalyptic gypsy punk of Nostalghia, one of the more unique bands to be added to the Soundwave 2014 lineup, but one that produces incredible live show that transports unknowing audiences into an avant-garde netherworld.

Rounding out the bill will be industrial Brits The Defiled, who’ll be touring on the momentum of their 2013 album, Daggers, which not only received rave acclaim from critics but saw the band hailed as one of the few UK bands still pushing boundaries in a genre that many had long pronounced dead.

HIM, Nostalghia, and The Defiled’s Sidewaves tour takes place over two nights in Sydney and Melbourne, kicking off with a show at The Metro on Tuesday, 25th February and concluding at 170 Russell the next evening. Tickets hit sale 9:00am AEDT Thursday, 6th February.
