Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg are in discussion about taking the virtual Tupac Shakur on tour with them. The Wall Street Journal reports that the rappers are considering stadium shows that would include guest appearances from other big name rappers and an arena tour which would just feature Dre, Snoop and Tupac. Ed Ulbrich, the chief officer of the company behind the technology used at Coachella, said: “This is just the beginning, Dre has a massive vision for this.”
Although Tupac’s Coachella performance has been referred to as a hologram, apparently this is not the case. The effect is actually a 2-D image and the idea was first used in 1862 for a dramatisation of Charles Dickens’ The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain.
