One half of Horrorshow, producer Adit Gauchan, has announced he’ll be departing the group following their upcoming Australian tour, which kicks off this weekend and wraps up in early July.
In a statement posted on Horrorshow’s Instagram yesterday, Gauchan said he would be “hanging up the boots” after a decade and a half as part of the hip-hop duo which he formed alongside Nick Bryant-Smith, aka MC Solo.
“The last 14 years I have spent in Horrorshow have been very special to me. A lil rap group we started in high school took me all over the country, around the world, to arenas, to award shows, introduced me to tens of thousands of new people, paid my bills, and most importantly fed my soul,” Gauchan wrote.
“Between seeing countless Horrorshow tattoos inked on people’s skin, to hearing every word of our songs sung back to us at each show, I know Horrorshow has meant so much to so many of you too.
“What’s more I got to do this with my brother and best friend, Solo, who I used to run around with when we were 13, sharing earphones during lunchtime, showing each other the latest music that was letting our imaginations run wild. How have I been so lucky? I’m truly grateful for what we have shared. It will stay with me forever.”
Gauchan concluded the statement by saying he’d “still be involved behind the scenes in the studio” but that he was “looking forward to a change, a new pace, and a different challenge.”
Gauchan’s last tour as part of Horrorshow starts this Friday (27th May) with a show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, heading to Wollongong the following evening. From there, the run will continue along to Adelaide, Margaret River, Perth, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Hobart and Melbourne before finishing up on Saturday, 2nd July in Canberra. Tickets are available here.
