Ballarat-bred rockers Hunting Grounds, who were brought to public attention when they won triple j’s Unearthed High competition as Howl, have announced that after nearly a decade together they are parting ways.
“After almost 10 years of us playing together, two EP’s, one album, hundreds of shows and countless great times we have decided that this year will be the last year of Hunting Grounds,” wrote the band in a statement on Facebook.
“Without the incredible support of all of you this wouldn’t have been possible. We love you all, thanks for listening. Now let all go out for some frosty chocolate milkshakes.” Since winning the triple j competition with their song Blackout, the band have released two EP’s and one full length album.
In 2009 the released the self-titled EP Howl and following their subsequent name change the band dropped Brothers In Violence in 2010 as Hunting Grounds and in 2012 released their well-received debut LP, In Hindsight which was produced by Paul ‘Woody’ Annison.
In their near decade as a band they’re toured with mash-up maestros Yacht Club DJs, who also announced their split this year, played festival stages including the Big Day Out and filled out venues across the country.
