Coachella is known for its surprise guests so there’s a certain expectation that comes with playing the festival that you’re going to be joint by friends and rapper Ice Cube didn’t disappoint.
He performed a guest-heavy set on the mainstage at the festival, bringing out MC Ren and DJ Yella for an N.W.A. reunion that could’ve been complete if it weren’t for Dr. Dre’s absence.
The trio performed Straight Outta Compton and Fuck Tha Police coming good on Ice Cube’s promise earlier this year that he would “give everybody a little history lesson on Ice Cube and N.W.A., Westside Connection, everything I’ve been doing over the years.”
This isn’t the first time they have reunited recently. They reunited briefly for the BET Experience last year for the first time in two decades. Their biopic Straight Outta Compton was one of last year’s biggest film releases.
His Coachella guest list didn’t stop at N.W.A. though. He pulled Snoop Dogg on the stage for Go To Church and The Next Episode. That was just moments after he collided with Common for their 2016 single Real People.
Ice Cube hasn’t released an album in six years but the performance showed he’s still in top form. Watch some cheeky fan footage below.
