IDLES have announced three headlining shows in Australia for January 2025, in support of their fifth studio album TANGK. It marks their first tour of the country since November 2022, and their return after performing at both Splendour In The Grass and Melbourne’s Festival Hall in July 2023. A full rundown of venues and dates, as well as ticketing information, can be accessed below.
In addition to their run of Australian shows, the band will also return to New Zealand. There, the band have a one-off show scheduled at Auckland’s Town Hall on Thursday January 16th. Information for that show can be accessed by visiting the Live Nation New Zealand website.
The Bristol post-punk band released TANGK in February of 2024. The album was co-produced by Kenny Beats, Nigel Godrich and IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen. Its release was preceded by three singles: ‘Dancer’ (which featured members of LCD Soundsystem), ‘Grace’ and ‘Dead Horse’.
Music videos were made for all three tracks, with the most notable being that of ‘Grace’. Using deep-fake technology, Coldplay‘s ‘Yellow’ video was edited so Chris Martin appears as though he is singing ‘Grace’.

IDLES first toured Australia in January of 2019, supporting their second studio album Joy As An Act of Resistance. They returned for a headlining theatre tour in 2022, belatedly touring 2020’s Ultra Mono and 2021’s Crawler. In a review of their show at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on that tour, Music Feeds noted that the band “spent much of the show running riot all over the stage”.
“The sound occasionally turned to mashed potato, but the band’s raw energy and the crowd’s hearty (but not aggressive) embrace made sure it wasn’t a dampener,” it read.
