Iggy Azalea & Lorde Battle It Out On ‘South Park’

South Park has featured a recurring story line this season involving the revelation that teenage New Zealand pop star Lorde is in fact the alter ego of Randy Marsh, a 45 year old male geologist, and now that story line seems to be coming to a head with the series once again taking a jab at the pop music world, this time also parodying Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus as well as Tupac and Michael Jackson in hologram form.

In the episode, entitled #Rehash, the stars and their holographic counterparts all gather to perform a benefit concert, Night of Pure Estrogen: Women of Rock, to raise awareness of the gluten crisis in Africa. Randy/Lorde is a little hesitant to take the stage sans auto-tune, to which his manager responds, “It’s not about the music, it’s about comments,” adding, “You think what those people out there care what you sound like?”

Randy counters that he want to act a positive role model to young girls, a decree that irks Iggy Azalea to chime in with, “That’s easy for you to say, you don’t have a nice body.” Of course, they then brawl. Later a Michael Jackson hologram escapes from the concert hall and is hunted down by an armed Tupac hologram. “Perhaps the best thing to stop a hologram is another hologram,” one of the scientists explains. Food for thought.
