International Act Cancels Laneway Festival Shows, Replacement Announced

The 2019 Laneway Festival lineup has undergone another change, with British singer Jorja Smith cancelling three of her scheduled performances at the Aussie event.

Smith will no longer perform at Laneway in Adelaide, Melbourne or Fremantle, but will still perform in Brisbane and Sydney.

The muso pulled out of the three performances so that she can attended the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

“Jorja has (deservedly) been nominated for a Grammy Award in the prestigious Best New Artist category and will be attending the awards, which clash with the second weekend of the Laneway Festival’s national run,” Laneway organisers said.

“We wish Jorja all the best at the Grammys and look forward to her scheduled performances in Auckland, Brisbane and Sydney, as well as a new, special headline performance at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Friday 1 February.”

Refunds for Laneway’s Adelaide, Melbourne, and Fremantle events are available until 10am Wednesday, 16th January.

Following Smith’s news, Aussie rockers The Smith Street Band have joined the Laneway lineup, and will be performing at all five cities on the festival tour.

Today’s lineup changes come after organisers added five new acts to their roster last week.

The latest additions join a Laneway lineup which already boasted the likes of Gang Of Youths, Courtney Barnett, Rex Orange County, Methyl Ethel, Middle Kids, What So Not, Denzel Curry and Parquet Courts.
