American hip hop artist Jay Electronica has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour, including his appearance at Splendour In The Grass, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
Organisers announced the tour cancellation just a few weeks after Jay Electronica was added to the Splendour lineup. While in the country he was also due to play three headline shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
Organisers apologised for fans’ disappointment, and have informed those who have tickets to the solo headline shows that they “will be contacted by the relevant ticketing outlet to advise of the process for obtaining a refund.”
Fans of Jay Electronica, no doubt disappointed by this news, are used to being patient, given that they are still waiting for him to release his debut album, even though the album, Act II: Patents of Nobility (the Turn) was reportedly finished in 2012.
Jay Electronica has worked with everyone from Common, Big Sean, Mos Def to Jay Z, Erykah Badu, Kanye West and, reportedly, Charlotte Gainsbourg.
