Lorde performed on ‘Saturday Night Live’ over the weekend, catching the attention of some for her musical talent, and the attention of others for supposedly dancing “like Elaine” from Seinfeld.
Lorde performed two songs on SNL — her newies ‘Liability’ and ‘Green Light’ — but it was the latter which caught the attention of the internet the most.
Here’s why…
Lorde takes that whole "dance like no one's watching" thing VERY seriously. pic.twitter.com/OohiuFgxIp

Of course, some have struggled to come to terms with the dance moves on display…
my mom said Lorde's dancing on SNL looked like Elaine's from Seinfeld.

Lorde's moves are worrisome. #SNL

Me watching @lorde on snl:
"oh that's nice she grew out of that awkward claw hand dancing"
Me:
"oh nevermind someone kill me"#help— ? (@MusicIsMyL0ver) March 12, 2017
While the performance definitely has its fair share of detractors, there are also a bunch of fans who thoroughly enjoyed Lorde’s daggy dancing:
Lorde dances like Elaine but in a good way and is too young to know what that means. #SNL

So glad Lorde has made dancing like that acceptable.

I live for Lorde's dancing. She's not choreographed + she's not over-calculated. She's just feeling the music and moving fluidly. #SNL ?

‘Green Light’ and ‘Liability’ will both appear on Lorde’s upcoming second album Melodrama, which is set for release on 16th June, and Australian fans will have a chance to see her dance moves in action “sooner than people think”.
