Interpol Drop Another ‘El Pintor’ Tune, ‘Ancient Ways’

New York post-punk revivalists and Splendour In The Grass 2014 alumni Interpol have shared a new song titled Ancient Ways, taken from their forthcoming fifth studio album El Pintor. Whilst some fans are loving the new track, others have been a little more critical.

Ancient Ways gets straight to the point, and does so with energy. Sam Fogarino‘s rolling percussion is quickly flooded by reverb-heavy guitars and the unmistakeable vocals of frontman Paul Banks, who opens with the line, “Fuck the ancient ways.”

The new tune follows on from El Pintor cuts Anywhere and All The Rage Back Home. El Pintor (Spanish for “The Painter”, as well as an anagram of Interpol) will be released in Australia on 5th September, and is the group’s first new material since their 2010 self-titled album.
