Rumours surrounding a Kanye West biopic have been gathering momentum this year, but few would have guessed that Yeezy might call on actor and comedian Will Ferrell to take part in the film, but now he’s reportedly done exactly that.
The very idea is ridiculous on so many levels, not least of which the fact that Ferrell is 10 years older than the 39-year-old West, but perhaps it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise for those who follow Kanye’s Twitter account.
Earlier this year, he declared (amongst other things) that Ferrell had “reached living breathing god status”.

In an interview with W Magazine earlier this year, West also said, “To me, Will Ferrell is royalty. He is one of my personal gods. I would like Will Ferrell to play me in The Kanye West Story. Can you make that happen?”
Now, Metro has reported that Kanye and Will have been talking about the logistics of making the film, and Kanye supposedly wants it to be more of a comedy than a serious take on his life.
“He has been thinking about this for a long, long time and he has been trading ideas with Will,” a source tells Metro. “Rather than take himself too seriously, he feels it has to be a comedy and not a preachy film.”
The report also suggests that the project could be directed by Adam McKay, who directed Anchorman and Step Brothers (which Ferrell starred in), and more recently Anchorman 2, which starred West as the head of the MTV News team.
Whether a Kanye West comedy biopic will actually go ahead is anyone’s guess, but here — for your enjoyment — is the Anchorman 2 battle scene (starring Yeezy) in all its glory.
