Colombian superstar J Balvin is up next in delivering a cover in contribution to The Metallica Blacklist: a 53-track compilation featuring covers of songs from Metallica‘s seminal Black Album.
Balvin’s delivered probably the most intriguing cover so far, bringing ‘Wherever I May Roam’ into hip-hop territory.
In his version, Balvin fills the first half of the track with a few rap verses atop the Metallica sampled instrumental. Towards the later half of the track, the sampling becomes more overt, with his vocal cutting out to make way for a full sample from the original Metallica track.
The cover comes accompanied by a clip, directed by Daniel Duran.
J Balvin joins an impressive run of acts contributing to the compilation, including St. Vincent, Miley Cyrus, Biffy Clyro, The Chats and more.
