After three years without releasing a studio album, J. Cole has marked his surprise return with the announcement of his sixth studio album The Off-Season.
Making the announcement earlier this morning on social media, Cole shared the album’s artwork and revealed that the record has been “years in the making”.
The best part? The Off-Season is out next week – Friday, 14th May.
This marks Cole’s first studio album since 2018’s KOD, though he has been keeping himself busy in the interim.
2019 saw the release of Revenge Of The Dreamers III, the third instalment in a series of compilation albums between him and Dreamville Records.
Then, last year, he released EP Lewis Street, which contained two tracks ‘The Climb Back’ and ‘Lion King On Ice’. Those two tracks were touted as the first two songs from Cole’s forthcoming album The Fall Off.
At the time of writing, it’s unclear when we’ll be getting The Fall Off, though it remains that it is a different album to The Off-Season.
According to another recent post by Cole on Instagram, we’ll be receiving another project titled It’s A Boy in between The Off-Season and The Fall Off.
Safe to say, J. Cole fans are being well fed.
