Jack White, Smashing Pumpkins Lead Lollapalooza South America 2015 Festival Lineups

Organisers of the international Lollapalooza festival have unveiled the lineups for the event’s 2015 South American festivals in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, with acts like Jack White, Skrillex, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, The Smashing Pumpkins and Foster The People topping all three bills.

“Lollapalooza is coming again! I feel like I can personally vouch for this lineup as being one you will never forgive yourself for missing!” Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell said in a statement. “Can’t wait to see everyone there in March!” Also playing each of the festivals, due to take place in March 2015, will be Calvin Harris, St. Vincent, Interpol, Alt-J, Major Lazer and The Kooks.

Acts like NOFX, Kasabian, Bastille and SBTRKT will play both the Chile and Argentina legs of the festival. While Pharrel Williams and Cypress Hill have also landed on the Argentina bill.

The fourth edition of Lollapalooza Brazil boasts more than 45 acts on the festival lineup. On top of the headlining acts, it will also feature Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris, St. Vincent, Interpol, Alt-J and Major Lazer as well as Childish Gambino, Marina and the Diamonds and Rudimental.

Lollapalooza is run by Austin-based promotion company C3 Presents who now also own 100% of the Big Day Out, after promoter AJ Maddah sold his stake in the festival. This year the festival announced its expansion into Europe with Lollapalooza Berlin scheduled for September 2015.

The expansion has reinforced speculation that the Big Day Out, which is not returning in 2015, is destined to become Lollapalooza Australia. Speaking recently, event founder Jane’s Addition frontman Perry Farrell, who conceived and created the Chicago-based festival as a farewell tour for his band in 1991, said he is “excited” about Lollapalooza’s international plans, though he did not mention Australia specifically.

“One of the things that we can do is we can start to go global. It’s keeping it modern just by the fact that it’s starting to be a globetrotter. Now it has a strange, unique life and identity to it,” he said. “It’s in Chile and Argentina and Brazil. We do excellent work. We’re excellent craftsmen, all of us, everybody on the team C3 [Presents], William Morris, the promoters [in South America]. They’re just really great.”

While the Big Day Out suffered very public financial troubles this year, according to Billboard 2014 has been a good year for the Lollapalooza brand, with all four of its global festivals selling out. See the full Lollapalooza South America lineups below.
