American musician James Kottak, better known for his role as a drummer with Scorpions and Kingdom Come, passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, 9th January. He was 61. The cause of his death remains undisclosed.
Scorpions took to Facebook to post a tribute. “Very sad news … our dear friend and Drummer for 20 years James Kottak has passed at the age of 61,” they said. “James was a wonderful human being , a great musician and loving family man … he was our Brother from another Mother and will be truly missed . … Rock ‘n Roll Forever. RIP James.”

James Kottak’s beats helped define the sound of Scorpions for two decades, as he held the sticks for the German rock band from 1996 to 2016. Kottak showcased his drumming skills with various other bands, including hard rockers Kingdom Come, glam metal group Warrant, English rock band The Cult, and his punk rock ensemble, Kottak.
