Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow has dropped the soulful and synth-laden Get Low, another fresh take from his upcoming album We Move.
Building from nothing but a stripped-back guitar and adding some drum machine and swirling synths under McMorrow’s captivating vocals, Get Low follows on from We Move‘s lead single Rising Water.
Both singles point toward a new musical direction for McMorrow, who has worked with producer Nineteen85 (Drake’s Hotline Bling). Seeing the singer embracing hip hop as an influence and incorporating it into a layered and cinematic sound to underscore his iconic voice — it’s a truly exciting move from the singer.
With the release of We Move fast approaching, the album looks set to round out a massive year for McMorrow, which has seen his moving cover of Chris Isaak‘s Wicked Game featured as part of the trailer for the latest season of Game Of Thrones and has featured a collaboration with Kygo on the single I’m In Love.
Having also wowed local audiences with his set at Splendour in the Grass earlier this year, McMorrow’s fans down under can’t wait to see what’s next from this exhilarating and original artist.
We Move is set for release on Friday, 2nd September. Have a listen to Get Low, below.
