30 Seconds To Mars fit in to the emo rock genre – so we can expect some of their fans to be a bit interesting and hardcore, but this is just ridiculous.
Frontman Jared Leto has told UK radio station XFM that he once had a fan send an ear to him in the post.
Leto made the revelation while he was discussing the topic of the most extreme gifts he’d ever been sent by fans. Unsurprisingly, the ear topped the list.
“Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me, that was very strange. A whole ear. The Van Gogh move,” he said.
“The note just said, ‘Are you listening?’. I never knew who it was, who’s missing their ear out there.”
When asked what he did with ear, he jokingly replied: “I poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace.”
He then urged fans not to go down a similar path, saying: “Just don’t put your entire body in a case and send it to us”.
30 Seconds To Mars will release their new studio album Love, Lust Faith + Dreams in mid-May.
