The one and only album from Jay Reatard‘s fleeting project Terror Visions is to get a reissue later this year, as Consequence of Sound report.
Reatard began recording under the Terror Visions banner in the mid 00s, releasing one EP, one 7″ and indeed one full-length album, with the uniquely Reatard name of World Of Shit. In November, World Of Shit is to be dusted down and re-released on 180-gram vinyl with a gatefold cover through FDH Records, who also put the album out back in 2007. Everything Terror Visions ever recorded – including two previously unreleased songs (one of which, intriguingly, is a Brian Eno cover) – will be included in the new release.
Terror Visions was Reatard’s attempt at an electroclash-infused form of gnarly garage punk, which like everything with Reatard, was fairly short-lived. Reatard died in January 2010 after ingesting a cocktail of cocaine and alcohol, he was 29.
The release of World Of Shit marks the second major reissue since Reatard’s death, with his first ever album, The Reatard’s Teenage Hate, reissued back in May. More reissues charting the life and career of one of the most bizarrely singular talents of the last decade or so might be expected over the coming years. In the meantime, here’s a reminder of his talents.
