Jet frontman Nic Cester is already set to perform at Bluesfest in April, and now he’s announced his first-ever solo tour dates.
Cester will play two shows in Sydney and Melbourne shortly after Bluesfest, and he’ll be showcasing material from his forthcoming debut solo album with the help of an all-Italian backing band.
Cester has been living between Berlin, Milan and Como over the last six years, and has been working on solo material with Italian band Calibro 35 and producer Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age).
Cester is yet to release any of his solo music — which has been described as “a mixture of soul, blues and lost Italian soundtrack music” by promoters — but he’s excited about debuting it on a live stage.
“It feels like the right thing to do with these songs,” he says.
“Normally you would release music then go and play the songs live, but I like the idea of returning to the source, the live show, to let people who are interested come and hear the songs played with all the energy and human connection that make them come alive.
“I really want to do things differently to how I’ve done them before and challenge myself and the band, and this feels like a really exciting way to do it.”
Cester’s debut solo album is expected to be released later this year. Catch his upcoming solo tour dates, below.
