The NRL has said ‘rollover DJ’ to Peking Duk, announcing three bands as the pre-game entertainment for State Of Origin II , headlined by Aussie rifflords Jet.
The code today revealed that they’ve booked in the iconic guitar-slingers to headline the pre-match spectacular for the second clash between the blues and maroons at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, June 24th, following last night’s controversial opener which saw NSW get up 22-12.
“Jet are proven performers and their high-energy set will lend itself perfectly to Origin,” NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said in a statement.
“We’ve got a great show planned for this unique Sunday night Origin timeslot.”
Jet will bust out a handful of their classic pub rock bangers as part of their headlining set, with support from next-gen Aussie indie-rock acts The Rubens and Kingswood.
“We’ve played in front of this sort of crowd before but this will be different,” said Jet frontman Nic Cester. “It’s a whole different atmosphere and we’re really looking forward to it. It’s such a huge scale.”
It comes as Jet are off galavanting round the country to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their seminal album, Get Born.
Meanwhile, Peking Duk’s State Of Origin performance last night drew mixed reviews, and you can read some of them here.
