Jimmy Kimmel Responds To Kanye West Twitter Rant On Air

US late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has announced that he’s at “DEF-KANYE 5,” responding to rapper Kanye West, who launched an expletive-riddled, all-caps tirade at the host, in retaliation for a sketch performed on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, parodying West’s recent BBC interview with Zane Lowe.

The three-part interview has been making the rounds on the internet this week, with many of the choice soundbites from the clips slowly but surely weaving their way into the pop culture lexicon, especially West’s declaration of “I’m the biggest rockstar in the world!” Kimmel mocked the incredibly over-the-top nature of the interview by replacing both West and Lowe with child actors, who recreated West’s inflated and inherently childish dialogue.

After West kept with his usual MO and responded by initiating a humourless and borderline-incoherent rant on Twitter, Kimmel took it upon himself to clear up the situation for his fans. “[Kanye’s] very angry because of a bit we aired this week,” Kimmel opened, before explaining a phone call he received from the rapper, in which West explained that Kimmel’s “only choice” was to “apologise publicly,” telling the host that his life “would be much better” if he apologises.

“And then he started tweeting…” said Kimmel, before putting West’s tweets up on screen and letting the comedy value of the maniacal and exaggerated dispatches speak for themselves. Kimmel did however take a few subtle jabs at West, in particular responding to a tweet in which West stated “Jimmy Kimmel, put yourself in my shoes…oh no, that means you would have gotten too much good p**sy in your life…” to which Kimmel replied “I’ve seen the video, I know,” referring to West’s girlfriend and now baby mama, Kim Kardashian.

Readers can check out Kimmel’s entire response below, which remained in high spirits and good humour throughout, with Kimmel finishing off by explaining “I don’t know why he’s angry. Again, the bit was pretty innocuous” though expressing delight at fulfilling one of his boyhood dreams, saying “Finally, I’m in a rap feud.”
