Still riding high off the back of national exposure via Triple J unearthed, ARIA #4 debut EP release, a tour with Art vs Science and festival slots at the likes of Splendour In The Grass, Coaster and Big Sound, Sydney soft forrest folksters Jinja Safari are about to embark on their very first headlining national tour. Not bad for a band that played their first ever show a mere 5 months ago.
Jinja Safari channel African rhythms, bouncing harmonies, makeshift percussion and an unabashed performance that blends gentle melodic jungle-folk and fiery independent showmanship. The “Forest Eyes Tour”, named after the band’s latest single, will begin in November with Alpine and Fishing coming along for the ride. Traversing WA, QLD, NSW, VIC and SA, it will culminate in festival appearances at Falls in Lorne and Peat’s Ridge over New Years. “If you don’t know how entertaining the concept of allowing yourself to ‘Ugly Dance’ can be, then you haven’t experience the unbridled spectacle of a Jinja Safari show. And you should” says the band.
