Musical and political force of nature Joan Baez has announced her first Australian tour in more than 25 years, with the American folk singer and activist confirming dates across the country this August.
Baez was responsible for introducing Bob Dylan to the world back in 1963, with their relationship inspiring her to write her ’70s classic Diamonds & Rust. The folk legend has never shied away from activism, from singing about civil rights and freedom in the ’60s to performing at Occupy Wall Street in 2011.
Her most recent album, 2008’s Day After Tomorrow, was nominated for a Grammy. Her Australian tour will feature her son Gabriel Harris on percussion and multi-instrumentalist Dirk Powell on banjo, guitar, keyboards and fiddle.
Baez will be stopping by most major cities while in town, venues dates and ticketing goodness can be found below.
