John Fogerty Fan Dies At Bluesfest 2012

The Telegraph has sadly reported that a 49-year-old woman passed away while awaiting John Fogerty to take the stage on the final day of Byron Bay Bluesfest 2012.

According to the report, the 49-year-old woman was sitting in the Mojo Stage tent when she went into cardiac arrest. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30pm, moments before Fogerty was due to begin his two-hour set.

When paramedics arrived the woman was not breathing, and unfortunately could not be revived. Police Inspector Gary Cowan said that, according to witnesses, the woman looked unwell and then slumped back in her seat. Police are currently awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death but say the circumstances do not appear suspicious.

Bluesfest venue manager, Brendan Meek, sent his condolences out to the woman’s family.

“It has really hit everybody hard … but she was at a place she loved. She came to Bluesfest every year,” he said.

The incident delayed Fogerty’s set by 20 minutes and no reports have mentioned whether Fogerty was aware of the reason for the delay. Fogerty did, however, post a thank you clip to Australian fans on YouTube and his official Facebook page
