John Squire Confirms The Stone Roses Have Officially Broken Up Again

The Stone Roses are no more, with guitarist John Squire confirming that the band broke up two years ago.

The band formed in 1983 and famously called it quits in 1996, before reuniting in 2011 for live shows, a documentary and the release of new music.

Now an interview with The Guardian has seen Squire confirm suspicions that The Stone Roses played their final live show in 2017 in Glasgow.

“Is that really it for the Roses?” Squire was asked by interviewer Sam Wollaston.

“Yeah,” responded the guitarist.

Ahead of that final show, frontman Ian Brown had indicated that the band would be calling time, but no official confirmation came.

“Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened,” said Brown, according to Pitchfork.
