Founding member and former guitarist for British indie icons The Smiths, Johnny Marr, has unveiled a round of new dates for his impending Australian tour, after the first ones were postponed due to an ongoing family illness.
The tunesmith is now due to visit our shores in July to perform four intimate shows. But there’s bad news for fans in Brisbane, with Marr being forced to can his stopover north of The Wall, after his February 4th gig at the Tivoli was unable to be rescheduled.
Following appearances at Falls Festival and sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne last year, the troubadour will make his return to the East Coast, as well as playing shows in Perth and Adelaide for the first time ever as a solo artist.
He’ll be coming armed with his second solo album, Playland, which was released in October of last year, and has promised to perform a bunch of new material from the disc alongside plenty of tunes from his back catalogue, including some classics by The Smiths.
Tickets for the old shows are still good for the new dates, but fans who are unable to attend the rescheduled shows can get their hands on a refund from the original point of purchase before Friday, 6th February.
There’s also a cherry on top: all ticket holders go directly into the draw to win a $3500 Johnny Marr Fender Jaguar guitar, with the competition deadline now extended until Friday, 10th July. For info on how to enter, you can head to the Frontier Touring Website.
