Musicians Josh Pyke and Elana Stone (All Our Exes Live In Texas) have partnered with the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) to create the podcast, It’s Raining Mentors, presented by Music Feeds.
The first episode is out today (Tuesday, 25th January). With episodes released fortnightly, the series will include interviews and crucial insights from music industry professionals, including label heads and booking agents.
The premiere episode features a chat with Select Music’s Stephen Wade, booking agent for artists such as Amy Shark, Baker Boy, Client Liaison. On upcoming episodes, Pyke and Stone will share the mic with Warner Music CEO Dan Rosen, Ivy League A&R Manager Marihuzka Cornelius, and Village Sounds’ lead booking agent Katie Rynn.
“Making this podcast with Josh has been totally enlightening and fun,” said Stone. “The music industry is a constantly shapeshifting universe. […] It’s helpful to have some honest guidance to navigate your way through all the noise. That’s what we hope to achieve for the listeners of It’s Raining Mentors. That plus a nice cuppa and a chat with Josh Pyke and myself.”
In addition to her work with All Our Exes Live In Texas – who have opened for artists as varied as Backstreet Boys, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and Midnight Oil – Stone is a member of Missy Higgins’ live band and has previously toured with John Butler Trio.
Pyke started releasing music as a solo artist in 2004. He signed to Ivy League ahead of his 2005 EP, It’s Raining Wolves, which included the single ‘Middle of the Hill’ – number 19 in triple j’ Hottest 100 of 2005. Pyke’s next album, To Find Happiness, is out Friday, 18th March 2022.
Music Feeds is a proud presenting partner of It’s Raining Mentors, the first episode of which can be found right here.
