JPEGMAFIA has released the latest in his series of exclamation-punctuated tracks, with a new single titled ‘THE BENDS!’ today. It’s the fifth song Peggy has shared in recent months, following ‘BALD!’, ‘COVERED IN MONEY!’, ‘BODYGUARD!’ and ‘CUTIE PIE!’.
The track targets Donald Trump, starting off with a sample of Trump speaking at a 2019 ‘Black Voices for Trump’ event in Atlanta. In the clip, the POTUS discusses the apparent “support from the African-American community” for his campaign, calling it “overwhelming”.
JPEG goes on to reference Trump directly throughout the song, rapping, “My leader treat me like an enemy, he a casualty / Wonder if he cry when he see fans of me / Can’t believe we thought he’d be the man for me.” The track goes on to allude to MAGA hats and impeachment calls, denouncing the president throughout.
In the accompanying clip, Peggy dons a beekeeper’s suit and raps on a desolate country road. In a caption accompanying the video, the rapper has a brief message for fans – “i miss ya’ll, 2020 makes my head hurt.”
