Julia Stone has announced she’ll release an album of festive favourites next month, with Everything Is Christmas slated to arrive on Friday, 10th December.
Everything Is Christmas will feature Stone’s takes on traditionals like ‘Away in a Manger’, ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘Come All Ye Faithful’ as well as more contemporary classics like ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! and Mariah Carey‘s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’. Stone will celebrate the album with a handful of shows in Victoria and New South Wales – check out details for those below.
“Christmas music has always been such a beautiful and nostalgic part of my life. This is a record I’ve always wanted to make. It has been in me for so long,” Stone explained in an accompanying statement.
“These are some of the very first songs that really got under my skin as a kid. Familiar like that favourite jumper you will never throw away. It has been a dream of mine to make a record of my favourite Christmas songs, with my favourite people.”
The album was recorded live during a winter in New York with Stone producing alongside longtime collaborator Thomas Bartlett – who produced Stone’s latest solo album Sixty Summers – and a band of instrumentalists that included Sam Amidon, James Gilligan, Leigh Fisher and Nico Muhly.
The new album will wrap up a fairly busy year for Stone. Sixty Summers arrived back in April, and in August, she and brother Angus released their first collaborative album in five years, a soundtrack for the video game Life Is Strange: True Colors.
