Julian Casablancas + The Voidz have cancelled their upcoming Australian and Asian tour dates, including appearances at Falls Festival, Southbound and headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne, for now.
A statement from the band was released “with heavy hearts” by organisers a short time ago. “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen logistical circumstances, we must cancel our planned trip to Australia and Asia. The band is hoping to announce new dates sometime in the New Year and are disappointed that it can’t be right now and are very sorry for all and any inconvenience.”
In the group’s place, Australian festival favourites Cloud Control, who were originally to play only the Byron leg of Falls, will tour nationally with the festival, and new addition DZ Deathrays will now play Falls Lorne and Byron Bay. Stay tuned for revised set times. No replacement for Southbound has been announced at the time of writing. [UPDATE: It has now been announced that Cloud Control will join the Southbound lineup.]
The Strokes frontman’s new outfit was added to the lineup in September as part of a supplementary wave of acts, touring behind their first album Tyranny. They become the second big-name act to exit the festival after headliners Robyn+Royksopp were replaced with Empire Of The Sun and La Roux last month.
Falls Lorne and Byron Bay are now both sold out, after Byron’s second allocation of tickets was exhausted today. Tickets to Marion Bay are still available.
