Julien Baker Has Cancelled Her Australian Tour

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Julien Baker has cancelled her upcoming 2019 Australian tour, set to kick off this month.

“Due to unforeseen personal matters that have arisen, Julien Baker will be cancelling the remainder of her February tour in Japan, New Zealand, and Australia,” says Baker’s management. “We extend our deepest apologies to those who have helped to arrange these shows or planned to attend and thank you for your understanding.”

The tour was meant to see Baker perform on stages in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Byron Bay and Melbourne in support of her latest album Turn Out The Lights.

“It’s always a bummer when a tour gets cancelled, but our hearts are with Julien at this time for whatever she needs,” adds touring company Love Police. “We will be seeing her play live for years to come, so keep the faith and see you next time around for some Julien Baker magic.”

Baker’s tour also included an appearance at Perth Festival’s Chevron Gardens on Thursday, 21st February alongside Australia’s own Julia Jacklin. The Perth show will go ahead, with Jacklin launching her anticipated second solo album Crushing, due to be released the following day.

Local breakout star Gordi was set to provide support at the remaining shows, performing songs from her 2017 debut LP Reservoir. As a gesture to fans, Gordi will still take the stage at a hometown show in Canowindra with a yet to be announced “special guest”, marking Gordi’s first show in her hometown in over four years.

“GORDI is sad that the tour will no longer be going ahead and extends her wishes to Julien who is returning home to the States,” says the artist’s management. “As a thank you to fans and locals who have continued to support her over the years, the Canowindra show will still go ahead. This will be Sophie’s first show in her hometown in over four years and is excited to play for her fans in the area as well as those dedicated fans making the trip out west. We will have more information on run times for the show shortly and Gordi will also be revealing a special guest for the show.”

All tickets will be refunded from place of purchase.
