Today, Justin Bieber has announced that he will be taking a step back from music to give himself some time to focus on some “deep-rooted issues” as to so he doesn’t “fall apart.”
He announced the hiatus on Instagram, saying “I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s.”
“…As you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that.”
“I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be,” Bieber said later in the statement. “Music is very important to me but Nothing comes before my family and my health.”
It is no secret that Bieber has lived with mental health struggles for a while, and this Instagram post certainly seems to be alluding to those issues.
He does, however, promise to come back with a new album eventually.
“I will come with a kick ass album ASAP,” he said, “my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable.”
Despite announcing this hiatus, Bieber hasn’t released an album since his world-dominating 2015 record Purpose.
