Kanye West is reportedly trying to help out fellow Chicago hip hop act Lil Durk by buying him out of his contract with Alamo Records. TMZ reports that Kanye is in talks with the label following the release of the track ‘Vultures,’ which features West and Ty Dolla $ign along with Durk and Bump J.
According to TMZ, Alamo Records CEO and 300 Entertainment co-founder Todd Moscowitz refused to clear Durk’s verse on ‘Vultures’ and another song slated to appear on West and Ty Dolla $ign’s upcoming album. The widely scorned ‘Vultures’ was released on streaming platforms on Wednesday, 22nd November.
West and Ty Dolla $ign are working on an album as ¥$
West performed ‘Vultures’ live at the Blu nightclub in Dubai on Sunday, 26th November. Lil Durk, Ty Dolla $ign and Bump J were all present for the performance. However, Durk’s verse was allegedly omitted.
The song itself has received backlash for making light of West’s recent history of abhorrent antisemitism. West’s verse contains flickers of the bigotry and sexual violence that has characterised a significant portion of his recent work. “How I’m antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish b*tch,” he raps at one point.
West is currently busy working on an upcoming album in collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign under the alias ¥$ (YenDollar). Despite some delays, West has been adding final touches to the album in Saudi Arabia. Ty Dolla $ign has reassured fans that the album is coming soon.
