Kanye West has reportedly been released from hospital and is back home with his family.
Sources have told BuzzFeed News and TMZ that West left UCLA Medical Centre on Tuesday night after doctors decided that his condition had stabilised enough for him to be discharged.
Reports of West’s current mental state are still conflicting, with Buzzfeed News‘ source denying that he is “paranoid, hallucinating or delusional”, while a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said that when West was transported to hospital in the first place he was “mentally stable”.
These reports fly in the face of previous reports about his mental status both upon admission and release. TMZ‘s sources say West was admitted to hospital after a nervous breakdown, and that he will now require ongoing psychological treatment. Both reports agree that Kim Kardashian was by Kanye’s side around the clock throughout the week.
West was hospitalised just over a week ago in the middle of his Saint Pablo tour, and was thus forced to cancel the remaining shows of the tour. Upon admission, reports suggested that West was placed on at 72-hour psychiatric hold and was said to be suffering psychosis.
A host of musicians led by Lady Gaga have voiced their support for West this week, while his good mate Chance The Rapper sent his blessings during a performance on BBC Radio.
West is yet to comment publicly on his hospitalisation.
