Kanye West Says He Wants To Create A Christian Version Of TikTok Called ‘Jesus Tok’

Kanye West has taken to Twitter to propose a “Christian-monitored” offshoot of popular video-sharing social network TikTok, suggesting the name of ‘Jesus Tok’.

In the pair of tweets, West says he was watching TikTok with his daughter and that while he loved the platform’s technology, as a “Christian father” he was “disturbed by a lot of the content”.

“We pray we can collaborate with Tik Tok to make a Christian monitored version that feels safe for young children and the world,” added West.

It isn’t immediately clear whether Yeezy has actually reached out to the social media platform, nor have they responded to the rapper’s tweets.

The rapper (and ostensibly presidential candidate’s) comments echo an interview earlier this year with GQ in which he explained his turn towards Christian-oriented music, as on 2019 album Jesus Is King. In the interview, West talks about how he was inspired to start “rapping for God” after one of his pastors approached him and said, “My son just said that he would want a rap album Jesus from Kanye West.”

West’s forthcoming album, tentatively titled Donda, was set to be released back in July, but has yet to surface. The rapper has, however, released its first single, the Travis Scott-featuring ‘Wash Us in the Blood’. Last month also saw Yeezy team up with Ty Dolla $ign, FKA twigs and serpentwithfeet for Ty’s single ‘Ego Death’.
