Kasabian Glad They Didn’t Play The Olympics

Kasabian have told NME of their joy NOT to have played at the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said he wasn’t a huge fan of Director Danny Boyle’s four-hour opening extravaganza, nor was he wrapt with Sunday’s closing ceremony, which was dubbed a ‘Symphony of British Music.’

“The opening ceremony, just looking at it, you’re thinking ‘there’s a huge flame…’,” he said.

“But to be honest, he (Danny Boyle) did us a favour because I’m kinda glad we’re nowhere near it to be honest.”

Pizzorno took particular aim at George Michael in regards to the closing ceremony – saying the former WHAM! star was way out of line performing his new single White Light as part of his two-song set.

“The closing ceremony wasn’t the best,” he said.

“George Michael did a monster. Playing his new single blew my mind! He’s on his own in the middle of it, lost, looking for his Range Rover!”

Michael has since responded to critics who have slammed his song choice, telling them to “fuck off” on his Twitter page. Check out his tweets below:
