Kate Bush Announces Live Shows After 35-Year Hiatus

English singer-songwriter Kate Bush has surprised fans the world over by announcing a string of live shows in London after a 35-year absence from touring.

The now 55-year-old Wuthering Heights singer, who has not toured since 1979, announced the 15-date residency via her official website. The shows will take place at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in August and September this year.

Bush released a short statement accompanying the announcement, sharing her excitement about the upcoming dates:

“I am delighted to announce that we will be performing some live shows this coming August and September. I hope you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there. We’ll keep you updated with further news on the web site… Very best wishes, Kate.”

Bush told BBC Radio 4’s Front Row in 2011 that her family life has been paramount, and is one of the reasons for her touring absence:

“At the moment my family life is incredibly important to me and it comes first. Then my work fits in around it which is quite easy to do with the recording process but something like doing shows would be incredibly disruptive and I just can’t see that would be something that would work at this stage.”

Kate Bush’s London shows will be titled Before The Dawn and will take place from 26th-30th August and 2nd-19th September at the iconic venue. The Telegraph are already reporting website crashes in the manic rush for tickets.

The internet has been abuzz with Kate Bush related content since the news broke, and there has been a marked surge in interest in the internet-famous sKate Bush blog, despite the website not being updated since 2011. Check out some choice sKate Bush images below.

Bush’s latest album, 2011’s 50 Words for Snow, was her tenth full-length studio effort.
