Kate Miller-Heidke Will Rep For Australia At Eurovision 2019

Australia has crowned Kate Miller-Heidke as its official champion for Eurovision 2019.

The Brisbane singer songwriter was selected to rep the green & gold at this year’s sequin-studded international songwriting comp after our first ever public vote, absolutely smashing the competition with a combined total of 135 points from the audience and the jury for her operatic tune ‘Zero Gravity’.

She beat out some fierce competition from the likes of Courtney Act, Electric Fields, Sheppard, Aydan, Ella Hooper, Mark Vincent and more for a hot ticket to Tel Aviv this May, where she’ll flex her lungs on the global stage for the love of meat pies and snag sangas.

“I’m totally overwhelmed! This has been a peak experience already, and I’m dying with excitement at what’s to come,” Miller-Heidke tells SBS.

“Thanks to everyone who voted, and to all the other artists who provided such a brilliant, eclectic and stiff competition.

“I’ve had a ball, and I’m so grateful and thrilled that I get to represent Australia at Eurovision in 2019.”

She’ll join an elite group of former Aussie Eurovision contestants including Guy Sebastian, Dami Im, Isaiah Firebrace and Jessica Mauboy.

FYI the Eurovision semis will be help on May 14th and 16th, ahead of the big decider on May 18th.
