Vocalists Katie Noonan, Melinda Schneider and Abby Dobson are teaming up to present the Karen Carpenter tribute show, ‘A Kind of Hush’, at venues across Australia in April 2024. Noonan, Schneider and Dobson will be joined by guitarist Kathleen O’Halloran, keys player Frejya Garbett, bassist Lucy Clifford and drummer Lozz Benson.
The tour setlists will be full of Carpenters classics such as ‘(They Long to Be) Close to You’, ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’ and ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’. Find all the details below.
Carpenters – ‘ Rainy Days and Mondays’
The ‘A Kind of Hush’ ensemble will play shows at Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and venues in Albury, Thirroul, Canberra, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Tweed Heads, Caloundra, Newcastle, Narre Warren, Adelaide, Perth, Bunbury and Mandurah throughout April.
Noonan is best-known as the co-frontperson in george, the band she founded with her brother, Tyrone Noonan, in 1996. Since george slowed down, Noonan has recorded three albums with the jazz band Elixir and released numerous solo recordings, including the 2020 LP, The Sweetest Taboo, which comprises jazz re-dos of 1980s classics like ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ and ‘True Colors’.
Schneider, a country musician, has won six Golden Guitars at the Country Music Awards of Australia over the last couple of decades for her solo material and collaborations with Adam Brand and Paul Kelly. Dobson is the former lead vocalist of pop rock band Leonardo’s Bride, known for the ARIA Gold single ‘Even When I’m Sleeping’.
